Quality Management

Project Quality Management will be addressed from the perspective of managing both processes and products.  Project Quality Management is designed to ensure that the project will satisfy the goals for which it was undertaken.  It includes all activities of the overall management function that determine the quality policy, objectives and responsibilities.  Quality processes include Quality Planning process, Quality Assurance process, and Quality Control process.

The Quality Planning process involves identifying which quality standards are relevant to the project and determining how to satisfy them.  The Quality Assurance process ensures that all the planned activities are implemented within the quality system to provide confidence that the project will satisfy the relevant quality standards.  The Quality Control process involves monitoring specific project results to determine if they comply with relevant quality standards, and identifying ways to eliminate causes of unsatisfactory results. Total Quality Management (TQM), Continuous Process Improvement, Lessons Learned and other techniques will also be implemented as needed to maximize opportunities to achieve quality en-results.  Specific mechanisms to be used to measure and control the quality of work processes and the resulting work products include independent verification and validation, joint reviews, quality audits and process assessments.
